An internal assessment is considered the gold standard for evaluating pelvic floor function and can be highly beneficial in guiding the most effective care. It is never required and is always discussed in advance, with your comfort and consent as the priority. Many conditions can still be addressed without an internal exam, and your treatment plan will always be tailored to what feels right for you.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can begin as early as a few weeks postpartum, depending on your delivery, healing, and comfort level. Early care can support recovery, address symptoms, and guide a safe return to activity, while later care is equally beneficial for ongoing concerns. We’ll help determine the right timing based on your individual needs and goals. Long story short - it’s never too early or ever to late!
